Say No to Racism

The Say NO to Racism training equips participants with the skills and awareness to take safe and constructive action. The training is specifically designed to enable bystanders to become active advocates for a racism free society. It uses forum theatre and creative facilitation to bring immediacy and depth to this difficult topic.

The day-long training covers interpersonal racism and its impacts, barriers to bystander action and the positive social effects of bystander-led anti-racism. It offers participants practical tools to foster more inclusive and courageous communities through direct interpersonal action. In this way, each bystander is a driver of social leadership.

This training was developed in collaboration with the City of Darebin.

The session was very well run, and very engaging. They used a variety of techniques to encourage learning, and appeal to a range of different learning styles. Everyone who attended had a positive perception of the session. I would not hesitate to use Polykala again for more training.
— Dr. Laura Aisbett - Community Development Officer, Mitchell Shire Council
The Say No to Racism training is a practical, highly interactive workshop which encourages audience participation in a safe and supportive environment. Participants are taught the skills and awareness to take safe and constructive action as a by-stander. Highly recommended for individuals or organisations.
— Sandy Kouroupidis - Multifaith Officer, Faith Communities Council of Victoria
The Say No to Racism training really brought learning from the abstract and into the real. Polykala created a space that was safe for us to grapple with what is inevitably a loaded subject. The experiential learning offered through the final session was transformational. It gave me the courage and skills to speak up when I see casual racism happening, I cannot recommend it highly enough.
— Casey Northam - Community Development Officer, Wyndham City Council
